Getting Started with WMS
Learn how to organize your personal belongings with WMS. This guide will walk you through the core concepts and features.
Personal storage comes with two major pain points that WMS addresses:
Storage Unit Transparency
Ever forget what's inside a bin, locker, or storage box? WMS provides a simple digital inventory so you always know what's in each storage unit.
Item Location
Can't find your red jacket or holiday decorations? WMS uses AI-powered search to help you locate items using natural language queries like "where is my winter coat?"
WMS organizes your belongings using a simple hierarchy:
Location
A physical place like your home, office, or storage facility.
"My House", "Office"
Unit
A container that holds your items. Can be nested.
"Blue Bin", "Shelf"
Item
Your actual belongings, stored inside a Unit.
"Winter Jacket", "Drill"
Start by creating the storage spaces where your items live:
- Name your space — Give it a memorable name like "Garage" or "Hall Closet"
- Choose the type — Select whether it's a Location or a Unit
- Add details (optional) — Include a description, address, or dimensions
- Nest if needed — Place Units inside Locations or other Units
WMS makes adding items quick and easy with AI-powered auto-fill:
- Take a photo — Snap a picture of your item, or upload an existing image
- AI auto-fills details — Our AI analyzes the image and suggests a name and description
- Review and confirm — Edit the suggested details if needed, then save
- Or skip the photo — Enter item details manually if you prefer
Tip: Better photos lead to better AI suggestions! Try to capture the item clearly, entirely, singularly and with good lighting.
When you need to find something, just ask in plain English:
WMS uses AI to understand your query and match it against your item descriptions and images. It will tell you exactly which Unit contains your item.
Every Unit gets a unique QR code. Print it and attach it to your physical storage container for instant access:
- Download the QR code — From any Unit's detail page
- Print and attach — Stick it on your bin, box, or shelf
- Scan anytime — Use your phone's camera
- Instant inventory — Go directly to that Unit's contents
Tip: Laminate your QR codes if they will be exposed to weather.
